HBASc/BEd - Orillia Campus
Hampton, Ontario
"I chose the Lakehead University-Orillia Campus for so many reasons. I like the fact that it is a smaller campus and all students are pretty interactive with one another. Lakehead also has a very good faculty and it is great to be known by your name and not by a number as you are elsewhere.
I was also very interested in the Concurrent Education program and did not want to be too far from home. I have always wanted to be a teacher and when coming across this new campus I was very thrilled to be accepted into my program of choice.
I believe the benefits of having a Lakehead University education is that it is a very well known school and all the programs have a great reputation. The Concurrent program is great knowing that you are going to be graduating with your HBASC/BEd. It is a five year program and that seems like a lot but the school year goes by really fast. Before we all know it, we are going to be graduating and starting a career as a teacher.
One of my most memorable experiences at Lakehead so far is being in Linda Rodenburg’s English classes. She is a very enthusiastic professor and interesting prof. Meeting new people and experiencing the life away from home has been great so far as well.
Outside of school, I play on a recreational volleyball team once a week. I travel back home most weekends so that I am able to work. I am a certified ski instructor and teach every chance I can get in the winter. I live on a horse farm back home so I also like to ride my horse every chance I get.
Lakehead Orillia is a great school and as it grows I can only guess it is going to get better.
