I Chose Lakehead...

Initially
I chose Lakehead because I was recruited to play basketball for the
Women's Varsity Team. I played basketball during my first year and had a
great experience; however, at the end of first year I decided that
playing varsity basketball was not for me. Staying at Lakehead was the
right choice for me because of the campus and class size. I have had
the opportunity to get to know some of my professors in the History and
Languages departments and many of them have gone above and beyond both
inside and outside of the classroom. It is really nice to learn in an
environment where class participation and student-professor interaction
is the rule and not the exception.
The course selection at Lakehead
University has been super - I have taken a course on Current Crises in
Historical Perspective, the History of Africa during the colonial period
and also a course dealing with Canadian Cultural History (amongst many
others). I have also had the opportunity to write an Honors Thesis
which allowed me to work directly with one of my professors, Dr.
Burnett.
Thunder Bay is a great city and there is
so much to see. For people who love the outdoors there are hiking
trails, lookout points, rapids and beautiful Lake Superior. I regularly
attend most of Lakehead’s varsity basketball and hockey games, I help
coach high school basketball, I walk dogs at local shelters and I am
involved with tutoring at some area schools. I spend my spare time with
family and friends; I also like to stay active by running or going
hiking. Your university experience ultimately depends on your attitude -
embrace all great things that Lakehead University has to offer." |
