Here's what past students of our One-Year Bachelor of Education program have to say about their education at Lakehead...
"I chose Lakehead because Maclean's magazine rated the education program at Lakehead as one of the best in Ontario. During my Bachelor of Education program, I was exposed to many training opportunities outside the traditional classroom setting such as TRIBES, Communicating with Parents, and volunteer experiences like Readers are Leaders and mentoring opportunities.
Upon graduating from Lakehead, I was offered a full-time permanent position with Conseil Scholaire de District Catholique de l'Est Ontarien. My qualifications and experiences gained while at Lakehead were exactly what my employer was looking for in a potential teacher."

Bachelor of Education, Lakehead University 2007
"I always dreamed of being a primary-junior teacher. However, after being out of university for over 12 years, it was not an easy step to make since I already had a job and a family with two kids. But I realized that I needed to pursue my passion for teaching so I successfully enrolled into Lakehead's One-Year Bachelor of Education program this Fall. Right now, I am currently in my placement with a Grade 2 class where I have been preparing lesson plans, teaching and watching the students grasp on to new theories and concepts as well as learning about classroom management. I just received my first evaluation where I received a glowing review. I feel that Lakehead has prepared me to successfully pursue a teaching career once finished this Spring."
Sarina Lloyd ~Thunder Bay, ON
Bachelor of Education, Lakehead University 2009
"I graduated from Lakehead in 1997 and I have been immersed in the education world ever since. Having found a home teaching grade seven and eight, I enjoy the classroom environment and all the challenges that come with it. As I look back on my Lakehead experiences, I remember the small classes and easy rapport with faculty members as a huge advantage to the One-Year Bachelor of Education program at Lakehead University. I donít believe this would have happened in a larger centre or at a larger university. As an educator, I work closely with student teachers from Lakehead by sharing experiences in my own classroom. For example, the student teacher in my class this year has had opportunities to volunteer at a local homeless shelter, take students ice skating and share educational experiences at an outdoor education facility. Lakehead Universityís Faculty of Education remains a significant influence on my educational persona."
David Paddington ~ Thunder Bay, ON
Bachelor of Education, Lakehead Unviersity 1997
"With my education degree from Lakehead, I have been able to spend the past 20 years travelling around the world and working in different countries. I have taught English in Costa Rica, Japan and Korea. As well, I enjoy working around the globe as a tour guide bringing groups of tourists around different countries teaching them about the history, geography and culture of each place we visit. With a degree from Lakehead, you too can go through the looking glass, to a magical land of adventure and opportunity."
