Money Matters

Money matters - yes it does! A university education is a big investment financially. But it is a worthwhile investment into your future that will all pay off in the end. The good news is Lakehead University wants to help you pay for your education. Through our generous scholarship and bursary programs, you can make your dreams come true. 

Each year, Lakehead University gives out over $3.75 million worth of scholarships and bursaries to new students.
 
SCHOLARSHIPS 
 
Entrance Scholarships - Awards of Academic Excellence
(Direct from High School)
If you have the high school average, we'll give you the money! There is no extra application required. We calculate your average based on your 6 highest Grade 12 U or M academic courses. Eligible students will receive a conditional scholarship offer based on marks available in May 2010. Final scholarship eligibility will be determined in July 2010 based on the highest 6 Grade 12 U or M academic marks received by that time.

*renewable providing an 90% average is achieved in each academic year. If a student's university academic average falls between 80%-89.9%, the student will receive an amended scholarship valued at $2,500/year for each subsequent academic year for the remaining term of the scholarship.

Lakehead University Presidential Scholarships
Value: up to 2 x $30,000 ($7,500/year x 4 years)
Application Deadline: April 15, 2010
Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarships
Value: $26,000 ($6,500/year x 4 years)

BURSARIES

Entrance Bursaries

In addition to scholarship opportunities, Lakehead University also provides you with an excellent Entrance Bursary program. While scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, Entrance Bursaries are awarded to students based on financial need.
Up to $1,500 General + $800 Access = $2,300


The Access Bursary ($800) is based on living over 700 km from the Thunder Bay or Orillia Campus. An application process is required. Please apply online through http://financialaid.lakeheadu.ca. Deadlines to apply are April 15, 2010 and June 30, 2010.
