Student Clubs & Associations

Student Union
The Student Union offers a wide-variety of services, clubs, jobs, and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. It’s the place to get involved, take action, and express your opinions.

Student Government
The Executive runs the day-to-day operations of centres, services, and political work. The President, Vice-President Student Issues, and Vice-President Finance work together with the student-volunteer run Board of Directors to realize the policies and politics of the student union. Through student clubs, you have the chance to have fun, meet great people, and become an active member of the Lakehead University student life experience.

Student Centres

Aboriginal Awareness Centre
Designed to assist the learning opportunities of all members of the University community, the AAC provides information and support regarding issues, histories, and contributions made by Aboriginal Peoples. The Centre also provides occasions throughout the academic year to experience Aboriginal Peoples’ cultural teachings, ceremonies, traditions and worldview.

Gender Issues Centre
A centre for all students, the GIC addresses issues and interests concerning women and men regardless of ethnicity, socio-economic status, age, religion, culture, family life, sexual identity or differences in physical or mental ability. The Centre’s services are used to spur communication, action, awareness, self-reflection and compassion.

Pride Central
A centre for all members of the University, Pride Central provides a safe and supportive environment for the LGBTQ community. The Centre coordinates a number of student groups, hosts events & socials, and features an extensive resource library. Pride Central is also involved in organizing the annual Pride in the North celebration.

LU Radio

Lakehead’s community-based campus radio station, LU Radio provides an eclectic mix of music and spoken word programming that you wouldn’t normally hear on commercial radio. Check out and listen to LU Radio online: www.luradio.ca, or when in Thunder Bay, tune your dial to 102.7 FM

Student Clubs

The Student Union sponsors different student clubs that are active on campus each year. Clubs are formed by students who share similar interests, with many becoming involved in local and national endeavours. Check them out! There’s bound to be one that’s right for you!
