Health & Wellness

Health & Couselling Services
Health & Counselling Services provides students with comprehensive health services through a team of registered nurses, doctors and counsellors. Services include physician appointments, referrals to specialists, first aid, and personal counselling.

Learning Assistance Centre
The Learning Assistance Centre provides academic support for all Lakehead students. Individual and small group tutoring is available in a variety of subject areas. Study skills sessions in exam preparation, note-taking, effective reading, effective studying, and time management are available. Interested students may register by contacting the Learning Assistance Centre. Initial assistance is free. Plus, students can utilize up to five hours of free tutoring per year!
 
Students with special needs due to a disability are encouraged to contact the Centre as soon as possible to arrange for any necessary academic and/or physical accommodations.

Office of Academic Advising
Academic Advising is a service developed to assist you in your academic endeavours, such as course selection, program assessments, and university policy and regulation interpretation.
 
 
Aboriginal Cultural & Support Services
Aboriginal Cultural & Support Services provides a culturally sensitive and welcoming environment to Aboriginal students while assisting with their academic and personal concerns. Links between the student and services available within the University and the local Aboriginal community are established through counselling, academic and cultural programs.
 
 
Chaplaincy
The Chaplain, Sister Alice Greer, is available to serve the whole University community, regardless of religious denomination. Personal concerns, spiritual direction, addictions, and grief counselling are issues for discussion with the Chaplain. Everyone is invited to attend weekly Eucharistic Celebrations Sunday morning at 11:00 am in the Avila Chapel.
